CLAY'S STORY

Clay Egan lived his life to the fullest. He loved to hunt and fish and spent his weekends racing motocross or in the mountains scouting for deer. While growing up, Clay loved to build things and work with his hands. He always dreamed of having his own construction company someday. While working for a commercial building contractor in his early 20's, Clay began working on his general contracting license.

Late on the evening of June 1, 1994, Clay was on a mountain road in Eastern Utah, when his motorcycle colided with two stray horses.  He was flown via life flight to a local hospital where he was classified a quadriplegic, permanently confined to a wheelchair and paralyzed from the chest down with limited use of his arms and hands. After a year of rehabilitation and a bright new outlook on life, Clay finally completed his general contracting license and started his first company, Clay Egan Construction, Inc. building custom homes. A lifelong dream had been fulfilled.

In February of 2003, Clay started competing professionally in the extreme sport of rockcrawling and off-road racing. He is the first and only quadriplegic in the world to compete professionally in those sports. Since then he has qualified and competed in 4 Supercrawl World Championships in the UROC (United Rockcrawling & Off-road Challenge) series. Clay has consistently placed in the top 10 in the nation and has podium finished numerous times throughout his career.

In February of 2009, Clay raced and finished the legendary King of The Hammers off-road race in Johnson Valley, California as the only quadriplegic. Out of 92 able body drivers, Clay held 8th place for the first 60 of the 86 mile race, when he crashed. After 2 hours of hard work, his team had him back together and back on course. Although they finished 33 out of 92 teams, Clay never gave up and crossed the finish line just under 10 hours. 59 other race teams failed to finish this race. "It was the most physically, brutal race I have ever raced," Clay said.

Since then, Clay has been exposed to an abundant amount of media coverage. His story has been featured in literally dozens of hunting and off-road magazines throughout the world. Clay's done interviews and been featured on many different TV programs on networks like, MTV, ESPN2, The Speed channel, Spike, Fox, and numerous other news stations and TV commercials across the country. He can currently be seen on re-runs of Travis Pastrana's hit TV show on MTV called Nitro Circus.

In 2004, Clay published his first book, entitled "OVER THE TOP" The Clay Egan Story, Pocket Book Edition and just finished a screenplay called "PUSH" The Clay Egan Story about his life and hopes to have it in production within the near future. Since Clay's accident, it has been one amazing adventure after another. All the media coverage and success in the off-road world has allowed Clay to travel and share his inspiring story with corporations and youth groups around the world. "Being able to inspire others as a Motivational Speaker, has definitely been the highlight of my life."

Clay currently resides in South Jordan, Utah.
